Final E-mail on re-opening

HI all,

So the day has arrived. After 126 days of no squash courts we are finally opening our doors tomorrow.

This will hopefully be my last big e-mail for a while as we slowly get back on to court and I just wanted to highlight the different options the members who are playing with someone from a different household have.

Social Distancing Games and Practices

Like I have said previously, I know we will all be keen to get playing full matches but unfortunately at the minute that is not possible. So England Squash have released a number of different games and practices that will help maintain social distancing.

Below is an overview but I have also attached the England Squash Poster and here is the link to their website, which includes some example videos - https://www.englandsquash.com/backtosquash

1. Sides - This is the main game outlined by England Squash in which each player keeps to their side of the court and you play the ball into your opponent's half.
2. Front vs Back - One player stays in the front of the court and plays all shots to the back and the other player stays at the back of the court and hits all their shots to the front.
3. Practices - The main aim of these practices is to ease us back on to court and keep each player at a social distance - such as Drop vs Drive where one player plays a drop from the back and the player at the front plays a drive.

I have attached a full list of suggested activities to this e-mail.

Booking Courts

Just a reminder you must book a court before turning up at the club to play. This is done by contacting myself on breen_drew@hotmail.com

Once I have confirmed your court, I will book a court via the MyCourts system. Please refer to my e-mail confirmation, not the MyCourts email, for your court booking and time.

For example I might confirm your court by e-mail for 10am but the MyCourts system would be booked from 9.40am - in this case your court would be at 10am so if you turn up earlier the lights will not be on and the court will not be available until 10am.

Final Thoughts

I have worked extremely hard to make sure our courts are open for use from tomorrow. There are a number of clubs and courts that have either been shut down or will not be opening for a number of weeks.

So although the idea of playing sides etc might not sound like the most fun, I think we should just be grateful that our courts are open and we can get back on to court in some manner.

If we can all follow the guidelines it shouldn’t be too long before we can get back to normal.

I have attached a number of documents including the Squash Section Risk Assessment as well as all the documents we have received from England Squash.

If you have any questions or need any help just let me know.

Thanks
Breeny
